Carnival’s largest ship to date, the 3600 passenger Dream, will sail two trips in the Mediterranean before it moves over to this side of the Atlantic. The two Mediterranean trips are Oct 3rd and 15th.

On October 27th the Dream will re-position to New York from Rome at a very good $649 U.S. starting price. Ports include; Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Canary Islands and two days in Bermuda before sailing into New York. Once into her full swing of cruises, she will be travelling the Caribbean year round. Family cabins will be a feature of this ship with one full bathroom and a second junior version that will have all the regular features, including a tub shower and sink.

Among other features are cantilevered whirlpools out over the sea, similar I would assume, to the Royal’s Freedom-class ships. The ship also has one of the largest Aqua Parks that has what appears to be about a 5-story waterslide for the kids (big and small). Spa staterooms are available, and the spa itself is over 40,000 square feet. This is ship number 23 in the Carnival fleet.

Meanwhile, Costa Cruises—which is owned by Carnival—will officially christen their two new ships on June 5th. In human terms, this event is the equivalent of a double ring ceremony. The two ships are the Luminosa and Pacifica. Luminosa is the smaller of the two at 2800 passengers; the big sister Pacific can carry 3700. More on both these ships in the months to come.
