I
I like this idea, providing Carnival will monitor the activity on the site. If they do this, it could be an idea that could be copied by those who are owners of the mega ships.
What am I talking about?
When the Carnival Dream enters service in September, it will introduce "FunHub."
The idea around FunHub is to create a social network among passengers that are onboard that cruise along with ever changing information on the cruise your on.
It will be available via 36 stations on Decks 3, 4 and 5, and 12.
The stations will give free access to the ship-specific portal and a shipboard social network, both available on a 24/7 basis. Passengers may also access the sites with their personal laptops or via 10-inch netbooks, available for rent on board.
The concept of Carnival Dream’s social network is to mimic social network sites. Given the news on Facebook in the past few days, let us hope they are ensuring that any social network that is part of this Intranet will ensure privacy. According to Carnival, passengers will be able to create a personal profile and use the application to meet and interact with others on board. Passengers can also create their own private or public discussion group, inviting others in their travelling party or new friends to participate.
Again, I think it’s a good idea and I am sure Carnival is going through some rigorous testing so personal info is not compromised.
Good idea Carnival.
All for now, back tomorrow.
