Ships for sale

POSTED ON August 13, 2009 8:50 AM

EasyCruise, the bare bones cruise line that was designed for a younger market and supplied a cruise cost that was affordable, has been sold. Hellenic Seaways acquired the brand and the line’s 574-passenger ship, EasyCruise Life, operating out of Greece.
Hellenic has the financial muscle to keep the show going, operating 32 fast ferries in Greece.
Haji-Ioannou founded EasyCruise in 2005 as a no-frills product that did not offer meal plans, housekeeping, and did not allow children onboard.
Still with the sale of ships…
According to Seatrade Insider, the luxury ship Paul Gauguin that cruises year-round around Tahiti, is on the verge of being sold. The potential buyer is the owner of French Polynesia’s four InterContinental resorts.
Sources are telling Seatrade that the buzz of late was side tracked, but now it looks like the sale is going ahead.
Regent Seven Seas have managed the ship and are transitioning out of that position.
We should know soon if the rumours are right.
And finally…
When Cunard’s new Queen Elizabeth arrives in Australia in 2011, she will hook up with her big sister Queen Mary 2. After launching at Southampton in December of next year, the new QE will start off on a 103-day cruise on Jan 5th.
On Jan 13th, 2011 the entire Cunard fleet will hook up in New York. That’s QE, QM2, and Queen Victoria.
That’s it for now.
Have a good day.
