Disney has the details

POSTED ON October 30, 2009 9:43 AM

Phil Reimer--Disney has released details today on its newest member of “Mickey’s” fleet, the Disney Dream. Disney’s Imagineering department have lived up to the challenge of being different. The Dream will start sailing out of Port Canaveral in 2011, freeing up Disney Wonder to sail out of Vancouver for Alaska that summer. Disney Fantasy will follow in 2012.

Here are some of the features, and they’re not only for the kids:

  • The Disney Skyline bar will show the skyline of various cities around the world.
  • 2 new restaurants - the Royal Palace and the Enchanted Garden.
  • Virtual portholes in the ships interior cabins, with Disney characters making appearances—not sure about that.
  • The Walt Disney Theater and Buena Vista Theater will show first-run movies.
  • Oasis of the Seas from Royal Caribbean has a zip line; Disney has the AquaDuck a roller coaster type ride. (I thought Oasis was the new theme park at sea, Disney may match it with the coaster. It’s not a coaster in the true sense, more like an acrylic tube that you ride in. Disney claims it’s a passive experience.)
  • There's lots for the kids and a club called Edge for “tweens” — passengers 11 to 13-year-old range. It's located in the forward funnel and will allow views onto the pool decks. Plus, AquaDuck riders will be seen zipping through the funnel.
  • Vibe, is a 9,000 square-foot club for teens.
  • The Royal Palace restaurant will incorporate design touches from Disney films.
  • Areas for adults include Pink, a champagne bar, as well as Evolution, a nightclub and a redesigned version of Palo, the signature restaurant of the Disney Cruise Line.

All for now.

I thought it was the Disney Wonder sailing to Alaska.  That is what we booked on.

You are so right. Made the change

Thanks

Phil
