Princess cuts paper, Oasis hides pictures

POSTED ON November 9, 2009 1:03 AM

Phil Reimer—Princess Cruises is upping the anti on digital documents.
It’s all about your planning and learning more about your cruise and saving Princess a bundle of money. According to Princess, the all new electronic format will deliver more information about their cruise than ever before, arriving conveniently by email and right to passenger’s computer desktops from the time of booking and continuing through departure.

In the electronic package will be luggage tags with passenger’s names, cabin section, shore excursion books, etc. These new personalized emails will be delivered starting on January 21 for passengers sailing after that date.

Also available is a countdown clock widget that you can put on the desktop of your computer.

……………..

Oasis of the Seas—I know some of you believe it’s getting to be too much—will have seven godmothers for the ship. The seven will be for the seven neighborhoods on the ship.

The Oasis will be officially named on Nov 30th.

One thing I do not like about Oasis is their new electronic photo image system. Apparently, you will be able to go online and take a look at all the pictures. Too bad. Wasn’t half the fun about the second day to go to the photo section—look at all the pictures and see if there was any people you knew on the ship?

Add some fun, take some away.

All for now.

I disagree about the fun of the photo wall - but then I refuse to have my picture taken when I can possibly control it.

I was recently on a cruise and walking by the photo display area on the last morning where the staff was removing hundreds and hundreds of photos that were just going to be discarded.  Think of the wasted paper, the photo chemicals being discarded into our land fill. It is a "make the cruise line more money" activity that I am happy to do without.

Call me a grinch, but at least a "green" grinch.

I think its a fantastic way to look for your pictures, avoid the big crowds, and the waiting in line to pay . some pictures come in so bad you do not whant others to see, great way keep up your hard work
