A minute to honour

POSTED ON November 11, 2009 1:00 AM

Phil Reimer--Before we get started today, I think we should offer up a minute of silence to recognize our troops where ever in the world they are today. For my part, my thoughts are with their families who are probably thousands of miles away from where their husbands, wives, friends, sons and daughters are--a very difficult time knowing they probably won't see them them for awhile on these long deployments. We especially think of you today on this day of rememberance.  Thank you.

On my way with Air Canada to New York today to ready for the launch of the Carnival Dream tomorrow night. I will attempt to upload a blog post Thursday night. However, you wouldn’t want a guy to miss a party would you? More likely it will be Friday morning before you get the first report.

Meanwhile, another port is attracting a lot of interest from two cruise lines Costa and Royal Caribbean. The Costa Deliziosa will be named in the Arab Emirates. Costa said it would be the first time a cruise ship is named in an Arabian city. The ceremony will take place during the ship’s inaugural cruise that departs Savona, Italy on Feb. 5 and calls in Dubai from Feb. 23 to 26. Passengers sailing on the first leg of the maiden cruise will be able to attend the exclusive inaugural ceremony.

The Deliziosa and its sister vessel, the Luminosa, will be deployed in Dubai this winter. Costa will offer seven-day cruises along with Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas.

With three ships sailing out of their waters, this city in the United Arab Emirates could be getting attention from other cruise lines depending on their success. Watch the pricing--that will tell you if they are succeeding.

All for now.
