Now on-board Oasis of the Seas

POSTED ON November 20, 2009 5:29 PM

Phil Reimer blogging live from Oasis--Just on-board, running around madly so I can get some information and pictures to you before we sail tonight.

If you have been on the previous world's biggest ships Royal Caribbean's Liberty, Freedom and Independence (the triplets who held the title till Oasis of the Seas set sail) and you thought they were big--they do not compare. You will be in awe when you board and see just what forty percent bigger means.

I haven't had time to count the swimming pools. I can tell you the dining room is three levels as is the theatre. Keep in mind, this ship is almost as wide as a football field and it is four football fields long. You could put the aircraft carrier Ronald Regan's flight deck on this ship and still have 28 feet to spare.

The first picture is that of the pool area, the second just a tiny piece of what is referred to as Central Park and the the third is the rising bar that goes up and down about three floors--haven't figured that one out yet.

Most of the inside rooms actually look down on the Boardwalk, and Central Park. Yes, inside rooms in these areas have balconies.

I am now just watching some brave soul riding the zip line from the highest point on the ship.

Soon the Aqua Theatre will get underway.

I'll have more for you sometime tomorrow. Keep checking back.

By the way, the Canwest papers across Canada will have my column on the new Carnival Dream this weekend.

All for now.
