One footnote to my past three blogs on the Disney Fantasy, which will set sail on 7-day cruises from Port Canaveral at the end of March...
It appears that with this ship Disney Cruise Lines — technologically speaking — has moved closer to what we see on the ground in their parks. The "Imagineers" have done a great job of advancing interactive technology to the point that you have several "WOW!" moments as you walk around the ship.
North Americans will get their first glimpse of this beauty when it celebrates a 2-day christening in New York, much to the disappointment of those who live in the Orlando area. Floridians, however, will have
plenty of time to see the Fantasy as she sails several short "inaugural" cruises before making her first official 7-day sailing on March 31.
Meanwhile, today Disney is scheduled to make several announcements.
I am going to guess what they are and update you later, following the press conference.
Keep in mind that I am one of those people who never wins draws, and who has been known to provide a laugh or two when I place a bet on a football game or horse race — “You're picking what?” is a favourite expression among my friends.
Undaunted, I am betting the Disney Wonder will sail two back-to-back Hawaii cruises out of Los Angeles in December — replacing Mexican trips. Also that the Wonder will wind up in Southern Florida sailing a 7-day Caribbean routing.
All for now.
My colleagues at Cruising Done Right continue to make interesting observations and raise compelling questions in the wake of the terrible Costa cruise accident in Italy.
