May christenings for Avalon

POSTED ON January 19, 2012 3:00 AM

Avalon Waterways, part of the worldwide Globus family of travel brands, will stage a double christening in early May of two more "Suite Ships." The Avalon Vista is the sister ship to Panorama, launched last year, and the Avalon Visionary is a smaller version of the two.

May 9 is the scheduled date for the double launch in Europe. The ships are numbers 12 and 13 in the fast-growing Avalon fleet, which by May will climb to 18 ships.

The Visionary, the smaller ship at 52 cabins, will offer cruises on the Rhine River, sailing the 8-day Rhine cruises as well as several Christmas cruises.

Among the Vista's trips this year are an 11-day Danube cruise and a 13-day Blue Danube Discovery as well as 15-day cruises between Amsterdam and Budapest.

Here's what will you find onboard...

Each of the ships will have two full decks of suites. The suites will feature a large seating area next to the wall-to-wall windows in your cabin. This means when the windows are open your room really becomes your balcony.

All the Suite Ships feature a club main lounge, dining room, hair salon, pool on the Sky Deck and an open-air bistro for lunches. Despite the size, the Visionary and the Vista will both have a fitness centre.

All for now.
