'Land' cruising in Africa

POSTED ON January 27, 2012 3:00 AM

It seems to me we have really been into river cruising a lot lately, which is all fine and good as these things tend to go in cycles.

One cruise that's unique is an African safari, with most of the time spent on land and four days on water aboard the 28-passenger Zambezi Queen, specifically designed for safari river cruising.

Here is a rundown on the three cruises planned for 2012:

Stars of Africa (16 days) — Three nights in Cape Town, three nights in Kruger National Park area and one night in Johannesburg before embarking on a 4-night safari cruise, ending with two nights in Victoria Falls.

African Sunsets (16 days) — Three nights in Cape Town, two nights in Okavango Delta and two nights in Savute before embarking on a 4-night safari cruise, ending with two nights in Victoria Falls.

Golden Trails of Africa (19 days) — One night in Nairobi, eights nights at a game reserve in Amboseli, Lake Manyara, Nogorongoro and Serengeti, one night in Johannesburg, then a 4-night safari cruise and two nights in Victoria Falls.

More details at AmaWaterways.

All for now.

There's a new cruise deal posted every day by my colleagues at Cruising Done Right.
